[/right] She spied the flame-pelted she-cat from the bottom of the hill. Of course, who couldn't spot a pelt like that? She watched as the other cat took up a trotting gait up the slight rise, her own paws carrying her from an adjacent coverage in some sparse, scraggly brush in silence. Her azure eyes focused gently upon the WindClan warrior as she reached the crest of the bump in the rolling land. A slight flash of alarm pulsed through her mind as the cat's tail whipped to and fro. Oh no, what now? she wondered, jumping the rest of her way from her cover, moving quickly up the slope to stand beside the warrior, though she kept her distance by about a foxlength or two to the left and a tail length back. As she peered out over the lake and realized that the water was the threat that had angered the WindClan warrior so, she dipped her head bashfully and retreated a step or two, ears flicking to the side. She now regretted ever even laying eyes upon the femme on this night. She did not know as much as she could about the WindClan felines and how each one felt specifically toward her Clan's presence as much as she could. She added that to her mental, non-existent-up-until-now 'to-do list'. "Oh," she murmured as she glanced out upon the gently rippling mass of water that lay under both of their sights. Her own tail flicked a bit angrily as she looked at it, as well. She thought of how many wonderful cats she had lost to the menace. The flood had not only taken lives, but instilled a deep fear of their very element in most of the younger individuals of their Clan. A RiverClan cat afraid of water was once an unthinkable prospect, but now, it could become a very bold, shameful reality. Small talk, Pantherstar. Small talk."Ah, so it seems that I am not the only one plagued by lack of sleep from the presence of the lake," she murmured, cerulean gaze turning upwards to the crescent moon. "I apologize for the intrusion; I was out and about and your reaction made me think something was amiss."She hoped that this WindClan warrior did not find it suspicious that the RiverClan leader was not asleep like she should be. Pantherstar honestly had been merely wandering and pondering their current situation, as she often did when she could not sleep. The last thing she needed was to cause more tension for either of their clans. And for a leader to be the cause of that tension? She almost shuddered at the thought, but withheld all outer reactions to her inner turmoil. Watch, for I draw near... "Hark, allow my lyrics to flow into your ears!" My thoughts are in shackles, prisoners of my mind.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh592/tiggeroo_xoxo/Embermist2middle.png]her topaz eyes studied the water, slowly flitting over the large expanse of it and couldn’t help but think to herself that that’s where thunderclan used to be.. their home swallowed by the deadly water. embermist couldn’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to lost her home, to have to evacuate to a place of safety; to impose upon another clan. she could hardly stand to have riverclan living so close to them, well, that was inaccurate. she could hardly stand to have them living with them. windclan’s camp wasn’t made to house a whole other clan, especially one that was used to sleeping in crowded, muggy dens. the lithe she-cat removed her gaze from the water, and instead glanced out towards the clearing where four trees used to be and tried to push riverclan from her mind and enjoy the serenity of the night. the calm was broken by the scent of riverclan wafting on the wind. she had started to get used to their constant stench in their clan but this one was much to strong to be coming all the way from the camp in which they slept. embermists’ ears fell to meet her head, and she felt her neatly pointed claws tear through a shard of grass as she glanced around for the scent, soon becoming unfortunately aware of who it was. the riverclan leader came into her line of sight, though embermist realized she wasn’t really hidden; her predominately black pelt aided her in evading the young warrior. embermist’s body tensed uncomfortably, but her ears rose from her crown and she kept her skeptical eyes fixed on her. a sound that was barely audible punctured the stillness of the night, though embermist was ignorant of what she had said. in no way was the ginger tabby comfortable with the close proximity of the leader, but she reckoned it could’ve been worse. one of her own clan mates would’ve started bombarding her with accusatory questions and giving her their signature disapproving snarls. however, pantherstar didn’t seem to be hostile at all; she was the exact opposite. it was almost as if she was trying to be friendly towards the desolate windclan warrior. needless to say, it was an alien idea, but it wasn’t entirely unwelcome. not that she would let pantherstar know that though. the silence between the two cats stretched for no more than a heart beat before the sound of her voice touched her ears, making her flinch ever so slightly. embermist broke her stare at the leader and instead looked out over the water. “i figured you’d be joyous about the ample amounts of water; think about all the swimming and fishing you can do now!” nothing about embermists stance, or tone was friendly. she had dismissed the idea that the presence of the riverclan leader was better, and she was not going to have her think that she wanted her here, invading her thoughts. pantherstar may feel the need to be kind towards her, but embermist did not. the she-cats vision blurred. “and why, would the riverclan leader give a rats tail about something ‘amiss’ with a windclan cat?” blinking until her vision had sharpened once again, she turned to look at pantherstar with an icy glare. embermist could just imagine how bad this would look to her clanmates. alone with the leader of riverclan in the dead of the night, while everyone was sleeping peacefully. let’s give them more reasons to hate me, shall we? she thought to herself scornfully before scoffing and shaking her head slightly at pantherstar. ----- six zero one is what i wrote embermist is a crankypants today is all i have to say my muse has peaked at 53%

~oh, oh! what do we have here? a grumpy warrior, casting a leer~

[/right] A cringe rippled through her mind as the WindClan warrior reacted with harsh words, but she suppressed it from showing on the outside. She regarded the she-cat carefully, feeling her shortened patience shrink a little more, but she kept any rising temper that pricked the back of her conscience firmly in check. If she was going to at least somewhat improve the relations in her Clan, she might as well start here. Despite this, she couldn't let her bitterness at the straight-out idiocy of the comment. "I didn't know that you WindClan cats consider swimming in the blood and fishing for the bones of your Clanmates an enjoyable experience," she said, her voice flat. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she turned her expression outward, gaze trained on the water. A breeze blew up from behind them, blowing her fur outward slightly, almost in an angry, sort of ominous manner. "I'll match your misplaced bitterness and simply say that whatever could have jumped from the slope and killed you could have hurt my Clan. I'll also add that it would have been very difficult to explain the body." She paused, one corner of her lips tipping up in a smirk. "But if you'd like to know the real reason, it's because I don't see any point in keeping such bad relations between WindClan and RiverClan." The partially obsidian she-cat licked her paw nonchalantly. "But I'm flattered that you're so intent to spread hatred about like a nasty case of greencough. Good to know that you care enough to hate us."Pantherstar was particularly no fan of fighting fire with fire when it came to such a matter, but it seemed a bit necessary in this situation. It appeared that outright kindness would not be the solution to this. She stepped a bit further to the side, putting more distance between them. Hopefully that would set the fire-pelted she-cat less on edge. She knew exactly how this could look, but distancing herself would undoubtedly prevent most of those suspicions. Besides, only a sensually-damaged feline would draw the image of 'friendly' from their situation. It was obvious that neither were comfortable and that this she-cat was being the opposite of cooperative. Watch, for I draw near... "Hark, allow my lyrics to flow into your ears!" My thoughts are in shackles, prisoners of my mind.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh592/tiggeroo_xoxo/Embermist2middle.png] Everything about this situation, made her skin crawl and her temper flare up in such a way that she wanted nothing more than to give the RiverClan leader a piece of her mind; more so than she had already done. Pantherstar’s voice, changed in tone in response to her comment, and Embermist, found happiness in knowing that she had hit home with the leader of the river. Not that she had a river to lead anymore. The fact that she had sought refuge in WindClan had lost all her all respect in the young, narrow minded warrior. How someone could compromise not only her Clan’s safety, but another Clan’s as well, didn’t deserve any respect.
Embermist’s face darkened as the RiverClan leader called her out on her words, and her attitude. You don’t have a flipping clue what I’ve been through. She thought with bitter distaste for the black and white RiverClan leader. Biting back words of scorn, she waited until the leader was done talking down to her like a kit to finally reply and let her know just how she felt about what she had been saying and what she thought of RiverClan and their proud leader.
“What right do you have to tell me that my bitterness is misplaced? I have every right to be bitter and angry when I have the foul smell of fish stinking up my camp!” Having no interest in what she had to say regarding something jumping up and attacking her, not wanting to justify her comment with a response. Embermist may be small, and not be the best fighter but she could hold her own in a fight, regardless of the size and skill of the other warrior or attacker as the case may be. The blatant disregard for every reason under the sun for her to be bitter and cold towards her boiled her blood. With her skinny tail flicking with contempt behind her, her whiskers twitched as she tried her best to hold back a snarl.
“I give only what I receive. Unfortunately for you, it is not kindness I receive from the filthy cats that call themselves my Clan.” Turning her head to look at the RIverClan leader, her dark hued orange eyes did nothing to hide how unimpressed she was. The light cast from the moon, cast a gnarled shadow upon the hill of the lithe she-cats body. Embermist turned gaze from it, not before wincing at the sight of it.

[/right] Pantherstar did reply to the first retort, politely waiting for the she-cat to finish before she interceded. Her voice lost all previous bitterness that it may have borne, and instead became a bit gentle, curious, as she tilted her head. The black and white she-cat was intrigued by this fiery femme, whose personality matched her pelt very well. The Leader idly wondered if her own pelt did the same. What did black and white represent? Good or bad? Did the presence of both make up for the absence of gray? Was she a neutral entity? She wasn't sure. Her mind flicked back to the matter at hand, no outside feature betraying their divert in focus. "And yet," she mused, head tilting slightly, blinking slowly as she pondered over this. "When you are offered kindness, you reject it." Pantherstar paused after the truth slipped from her lips, the layers of her neutral tone mingling with the air around her. No pity was betrayed in her voice, as she assumed that a cat such as this wanted it. It hinted at underlying tones of amusement, but they were so subtle that any meaning taken from them was not of the RiverClan leader's fault. Watch, for I draw near... "Hark, allow my lyrics to flow into your ears!" My thoughts are in shackles, prisoners of my mind.
