Appearance The first thing that one might notice about him when they first set their eyes on him, is the color of his pelt. It is a very rich, deep brown and is as sleek as can be for a ShadowClan tom. Sure, it is nothing compared to that of a RiverClan's glossiness, but it's still quite nice...even when he spends very little time grooming his own pelt. After that are his eyes - a very bright and bold yellow that stands out compared to the deep brown of his pelt. When his build is concerned, well, let;'s just say it's best that he is a medicine cat - he's not going to scare of many felines with the lack of muscles. He is also slightly smaller than the average tom. Personality ----- introvert For a tom that was born and raised within the Clan, he is not a people-person. He likes time to himself and he is solitary in nature. He doesn't like to talk unless he is directly asked to in a way that leaves no other alternative. The only felines that he would ever willing to have a conversation with would be those that have earned the privilege of being his friend, even just slightly, though there aren't, many felines he would like to be friends with. First impressions mean the world to him and if you don't come off in the right light from the start, it'll take a while for you to make things right. However, no matter how much he lives in his solitary existence, he would never want to leave his Clan or be completely without felines around him at times - he just doesn't want them around a majority of the time. ----- easily intimidated One reason he tries to stay away from other felines: he's afraid of being manipulated by them. He fears felines that could and would intimidate him and use his fear against him: one reason he would rather avoid the leaders or deputies of any Clan unless he absolutely could not. It doesn't take much more than a hard glare that says, I believe you're beneath me for him to believe such. He often avoids eye contact because of this and it's another reason he tries to avoid talking with others - he doesn't want to give others the opportunity to get the better of him. He figures one of the many things that makes being medicine cat the perfect position for him in the Clan is that there are very few cats who can tell him what to do: even the leader, in theory, should have little authority over him as the leader does with everyone else. StarCclan is his one, true superior. ----- curious His best quality is his overly acute sense of curiosity. When he's not avoiding felines - or even when he is - all he can think about is why things are how hey are and why they are that way. He loves learning knew things and he enjoys seeing the perspective of different felines from all walks of life. When it comes to plants, he is more than curious how to work them together and how they might work in different aspects than they have been tried before. New scents, sights, feelings, sounds, and tastes all intrigue him in a way that fighting and conflict never could. When it comes to the conflicts between the Clans, he just doesn't understand why they are all so concerned: in the end when they die if they deserve it, they all leave their earth-bound Clans and join StarClan together. They go from four different clans to the same, so he doesn't understand why they fight so much...but he's interested in learning - that's the only way you may be able to talk to him easily: peak his curiosity. ----- oblivious Because he doesn't talk to other felines often, he isn't all that skilled in reading the signs when many different contact aspects are concerned. If someone is trying to say something indirectly, it might take moons for him to understand that way. Things need to be spelled out directly for him to get any understanding of what's going on. He may learn to pick things up the more he interacts with others, but don't be surprised if he jumps to the wrong conclusions: he's just about he most clueless tom you'll ever see in your life. He may be smart in all other aspects of life, but a people-feline he just isn't, and neither is he really made out to be one. He can pick out when felines need hep physically, but when it comes to mental help...well, you'd better just tell him when you need the extra lift. ----- loyal His undying loyalty mainly extends to his love and admiration for StarClan. He would do anything he could to please his ancestors and he would never want to do anything to cross them. He trusts them more than he trusts anyone in the world of he living and would never dare say no to anything that came to him from them. When it concerns loyalty to his Clan, that's a little sketchy. He would never do anything to harm them, but he ids not entirely going to back them if the leader decides to do something stupid and pointless...not that he would ever say anything to the leader about that.... Honestly, he would help out any cat from any Clan, even those from ThunderClan, if they needed the help. We are all destined to be from one Clan, is what he tells everyone and that's a motto he lives by. We may be enemies today, but we'll be Clan-mates one day. History They say the way you are raised is what determines who you shall be the for the rest of your life. Well, Birchshadow doesn't quite fit that motto. The tom was raised by parents that were the complete opposite of him and he had a brother in his litter that took after their parents quite well. You might say that Birchshadow was the odd one out in his family. He never play-fought with the other kits (other than when his brother practically forced him into a fight) and he never looked up to the warriors as his fellow kits had. He looked at the way the others around him acted and you might say that he drew within a shell that had started to form. His mother was worried about her son and she complained often to his father in turn decided that yelling st his son would be the best option. There wasn't a day that went by that his father didn't try to get him to play with the other kits or show at least a little interest in the warriors. What he did take interest in though, to his parent's surprise, was the medicines and herbs that surrounded the medicine cat's den - he fell in love with it instantly. He would often lurk in the shadows, his deep brown fur hiding him fairly well and watch the medicine cat as she organized the herbs and made concoctions that she would give to the felines who were sick and injured. Every time he watched her movements, his eyes sparked and he would find himself in there sometimes all day without so much as twitching. One day the medicine cat was fixing up a feline and she called out to him. Surprised, he didn't say anything at first and she asked him if he would please come out of the darkness and instead help her. She had been without an apprentice and had taken notice of his presence in her den time and time again. From that moment, he became extremely close with the she-cat. he was still a bit silent around others, but to her he chatted on about what he thought and the troubles he was having with his family. His brother - they were around five moons old at the time - wanted nothing to do with him since he refused to be interested in the art of a warrior and his father was frustrated with him and his mother...well, his mother had died the moon before from a sickness. She listened to everything that he said and even gave her input every now and again, trying to help him out as best she can. However, whenever he mentioned his being a warrior, she merely shrugged it off and started to question him on the herbs that they were currently working on. Then was the day he was to be made into a warrior. When the leader called out and summoned the Clan, Birchkit came out from the nursery, his head hanging slightly while his brother came out with his head held up high. Two completely different felines taking the next big step in their life together. When the leader called out his brother's new name and the tom that would mentor him, Birchkit's eyes stayed glued to his paws, worried. There was no way he was going to get a mentor who would understand his hesitancy to fight. It was ShadowClan - fighting was all a lot of the felines in the Clan ever thought about. And then the leader called out his new name and that the medicine cat would be his mentor and he looked up, startled, then to the medicine cat. She say his started expression, smiled and mewed, "This is what you wanted, right?" He had no idea, but she muttered that it had been obvious and that she had thought he had known she was going to take him on. When he told her he hadn't realized that she would want him as an apprentice, she just grinned and touched her nose to his. "There is no other tom in this Clan that I trust to keep the ideals of StarClan and the Warrior Code strong...even when darkness plagues this Clan. Everyone else sees violence and seclusion from the other Clans as the only option...you see it differently." And he smiled back at her. He knew that was true and she was the only cat that had ever understood him. From that day on he worked hard with her, hardly talking with anyone else. She taught him how to see and interpret signs from their ancestors just as she taught him the uses for the herbs around them and how to use them to his advantage. He was a quick learning on that section of things, but when it came to the fighting techniques he would need to defend the sick or weak or even himself, he was a little less confident. He didn't see the point in fighting, but he knew he would do it to defend those who could not defend themselves if he had no other choice - but it didn't mean he would like it. Even when his brother became a warrior to be reckoned with, he was still an apprentice under the care of the one feline that he could honestly say he cared about more than anything else in the world. But, all things must come to an end and this portion of his life would when he was thirty-five moons old. He had gotten his full medicine cat name about ten moons before, but by this point his mentor had been getting ill. She caught a horrible case of Greencough and there was nothing he could to cure it. She was already elder age and she told him that it was okay - her time had come, but that she would trust him to keep to his duty to his Clan and help those that needed it...but she also told her on his death bed that he would never truly get along with the rest of his Clan...but that perhaps that might be for the best. She told him to stay true to himself and not let anyone bully him to be anything different or to say anything different than what he believes to be the truth. Then came the issue of ThunderClan and Riverclan. The moment the two clan's territories were flooded, Birchshadow was appalled. He had no idea why the waters would come, but he never blamed it on StarClan. Their ancestors and nature worked separately most of the time and he could see that probably better than most cats were willing to. He was one of the few felines that was more than willing to have Thunderclan stay in their camp and he labored hard to help out the ThunderClan felines through any injury they had. There were some that treated him well some that treated him like an enemy and that hurt. He never understood the distance that existed between the Clans - a distance that caused them to hate and distrust felines from the other Clan instantly. He just wanted to be there for any feline that needed him, not matter the blood that lay between them. And that was that. He was more than willing to talk with any ThunderClan feline that was up for it... And even after the death of Cedarstar, he shall still be more than willing to talk to anyone.[/style][style=font-family:Arial Narrow;font-size:10px;text-align:center;margin-top:0px;letter-spacing:0px;color:#FFFFFF;]CODED BY RAIN OF ON THE EDGE![/style] |
