[/style][/td][td] [atrb=border,0,true] Tendrils of shadows gripped the terrain like outspread fingers. Little pools of moonlight patterned the forest floor. A pretty calico she-cat sat beneath one of the pools of light, her face upturned. Her tail was wrapped around her delicate paws, the tip flickering as she thought. Her clan mates were tucked away in their nests while a pair of guards were stationed at the entrance of camp. It was quiet aside from the chirp of crickets and the occasional frog. The she-cat, Brindledsky, preferred night to day because of the hush that fell over Shadowclan when the sun bid farewell. She often wondered if the other clans appreciated night or if they thought it to be scary and unwelcoming. The feline brain intrigued her just as the customs of the opposing three clans interested her as well. What could be considered rude in Thunderclan could be the norm in Shadowclan. Even the notion urged her to pursue more knowledge.
The darkest heart of the forest Brindledsky thought when she pulled her gaze away from the stars. Clans always thought Shadowclan to be the most ambitious, the most black-hearted. The idea, not quite untrue, was an entertaining one. She figured that it all could be linked to genetics or it could be a self-prophecy. Whatever the matter was it made the logical she-cat wondered. Just as she wondered if there were others in her clan—or in others—that thought the things she thought about. Whether they thought about it seriously or if it was a bundle of fleeting thoughts. A smile graced her lips. I’d like to meet such a feline, she thought as she pushed herself up. She stretched, her back arching until it made a satisfying pop.
The pretty calico started trotting through the Moss Fields. She allowed the scents to envelope her, comfort her and ease the multitude of thoughts running through her mind. There were times—times like tonight—when she just needed to stop pondering everything she saw and heard. Her mind was constantly processing, constantly observing and she knew that if she kept it up she’d be fried internally. A rest was well needed but she was too awake to go back to her nest and sleep. What she needed was a task that would keep her occupied—a mindless task. Small talk. It was the first thing that popped into the she-cat’s mind but she doubted she’d find a Shadowclanner in the middle of the night. At least one that wanted to be found.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh592/tiggeroo_xoxo/Crimsonmiddle-1.png] it was hard lately, getting to sleep. trying to coax ones mind into relaxation, free of all fear that mind cloud the thoughts of the simple minded. crimsonfire, was of the simple minded variety as of late. 'safe' wasn't a feeling that he had experienced since the flood, and it became even more alien to him now that they had been exiled to a remote spot in shadowclan. fear constantly eroded his thoughts, muddling his judgement and causing him to act rather rashly; more so than usual. the large tabby found it difficult to accept the idea that they would be living on shadowclan territory, right on their doorstep, therefore, feel safe with the living situation.
green eyes pierced through the night, pained from lack of sleep. his entire body, from his muscles to his ears and everything in between ached with fatigue. however, despite the cloud that surrounded him, he couldn't put his mind to rest and settle down for a good night's sleep. then again, the tom hadn't given sleep much of a chance lately. it wasn't usually his style to give up, but he had submitted to his loud mind and decided that sleep would take over his body and mind when it was ready. until then, he would just take to wandering around, getting to know his new 'home' in the dead of the night, preparing for the battle that he was sure was imminent.
the moss fields did next to nothing to ease the tension that had wound itself into a knot at the base of his neck. the openness of it made his skin crawl, and his long thin tail flick with unease behind his large, muscular body. it was the perfect place for a full on attack, the perfect place to trap someone befor mauling them to death. aren't we in a happy mood tonight, he thought to himself with a cold, outwardly chuckle. with a short, distorted shake of his handsomely shaped head, the tom batted at a long piece of grass before coming to a halt.
overwhelming scents of shadowclan bombarded his sensitive nose, causing it to scrunch up against the pungent smell. only recently had he began to get used to their scent constantly hanging in the air as a reminder that they were always there. but this, this was much closer and stood out stronger than any other scent he had smelt on his little jaunt through the night. the knot in his neck screamed in protest as his body tensed against the smell and his hair stood on end. the scent was one that he vaguely recognized, but the name he couldn't place.
however, out of his peripheral vision, the blur of a light coloured pelt stood out against the blanket of black that fell over the forest. furrowing his brow, the tom cat tried to make out any noticeable traits on the cat, but to no avail. creeping closer to the feline, the scent became stronger until he was able to recognize it, but with difficulty. swallowing to clear his throat, he stood tall and proud.
"well, hello brindledsky. lovely night for a walk, wouldn't you agree?" his voice was a harsh contrast to the silence of the territory, husky, and cold.

[/style][/td][td] [atrb=border,0,true] No Shadowclanner would be found if it didn’t want to be but a feline from Thunderclan always wanted to be found. They were considered to be courageous, the heroes and heroines of the age old legends. Whereas Shadowclan rose up from the darkness, etching out villains and villainesses to rival the light. Then again, the concept of light and dark—good and bad—was rather amusing. Who was to say that one feline was bad or good? It is a continuous cycle, a never ending one which made it all the more interesting in Brindledsky’s eyes.
When Thunderclan came to Shadowclan for aid many of her peers wanted nothing to do with them. It was the big brother, little brother complex with Shadowclan being the little brother. Such complexes stretch eons before this particular time, that was something she was sure of. However with Jaggedtooth rising to power and with Cedarstar’s recent death hanging over them, things were bound to change. She could feel it in the air. Everything was tense and the air grew thick. She wondered how long until another fight broke out and if it did, what would the results be? There were too many possibilities to conjure and what the she-cat really wanted was peace or a distraction—which Crimsonfire helpfully provided.
"Well, hello brindledsky. lovely night for a walk, wouldn't you agree?"
She turned her head, her grey eyes glittering in the moonlight. Her clan mates stated that Thunderclan felines always carried an awful stench, that each clan that wasn’t their own smelled like that of crow-food. It was a trick of the mind, in her opinion. Of course there would always be preferences but the scents the three other clans carried were not rancid as others made it out to be. In fact she quite enjoyed the scent that was pulsing off of the handsome tom in front of her. He smelled of maple, shade, and summer time. It was hardly a scent to wrinkle her nose to and she wondered if the tom bought into the mind game. Do you think I smell because I’m not from your clan? She was genuinely curious. Plus she never thought that she smelled bad, unlike some of her clan mates. Brindledsky smelled like fresh rain and moss or at least that’s what Ashenfur told her one day.
At first she couldn’t place the tom’s name. She searched for it in her ‘mind bank’ until she pulled out Crimsonfire. It seemed to suit him enough considering his pelt coloration and she decided she’d go with it. If she was wrong he couldn’t blame her, he wasn’t from her clan and she doubted that he expected her to know. Moreover, what was more interesting was the fact that he knew her name. She didn’t think she had done anything recently to draw attention to herself or was it by looks alone that he could place her name to her face? Regardless, the tom was speaking to her and it was only polite to respond.
“Indeed it is Crimsonfire,” she said with a dip of her head. “Although I’m surprise you’re out wandering about in the Moss Fields in a territory you don’t know within a clan who hates all that you stand for.” Brindledsky quirked an eyebrow, a small smile appearing upon her muzzle. Her words weren’t spoken in hostility, they were soft and curious. The tom didn’t scare her. The she-cat could defend herself and she was Shadowclan’s top fighter and strategist—being made warrior at the age of twelve moons spoke for itself.
Brindledsky analyzed Crimsonfire, her eyes revealing nothing. The tom was large, masculine and much stronger than herself. However his strength could be used against him and she knew how to do so if he decided to attack. She drew her eyes up to meet his own. “What do I smell like to you?” She asked, unable to keep the question to herself. It probably wasn’t very polite and it definitely put him in an awkward position but she was curious. Science and understanding outweighed one’s comfort and she was rather eager for his response. Of course he always had the option of walking away or ignoring the comment, but she hoped he wouldn't.
