Appearance Short, dark brown fur coats this massive tom, fitting tightly across his powerful muscles. In the sunlight, his pelt can appear a golden color, but his pelt rarely hits the sunlight because of the lack of sun in ShadowClan territory. Unusually large with broad shoulders and rippling muscles, this brown Abyssinian resembles that of a smaller lion. His claws are one of his most predominate features, abnormally large and edged with razor-sharp claws. On his back, his fur is a darker, almost black, brown. A charcoal stripe runs down the back of his head and along his back, all the way to the tip of his tail. His eyes are a pale yellow color, but can sometimes change to a pale green color, depending on the lighting. His muzzle is flecked with whites, making it even easier to notice his characteristic that gave him his name—his jagged fangs. What used to be two long, sharp fangs is now one and a half; as a warrior, one of his fangs was chipped in a scuffle, giving him the jagged tooth appearance he is known for. Personality Impulsive This tom is not known to be a patient one; if he gets something in his mind, he’ll work at it until it’s accomplished/finished. Although sometimes a good thing, this impulsiveness can sometimes lead to bad results. His motto is to act first, ask questions later. Many times he has killed a cat because of the belief that the cat was doing something that would harm his Clan, such as a cat from a different Clan hunting in ShadowClan territory. He’s known for plunging straight into battle against another Clan without needing any other motive than the one he’s attacking for. He acts more on his impulses and on his gut than he acts using his brain. Ambitious His ambition, although probably the reason for his success in the Clan, is what drives him to be so impulsive and careless. Ever since he was a kit, playing in the nursery with the other kits, he had always wanted to be the best and to have the greatest power. He liked to point out the reasons for his superiority to the other kits, such as how he was the oldest and biggest one there, so they should respect him. Always looking for a reason to be better than others, he worked hard to shine above the others in the Clan and gain his deputy position under Cedarstar. Unfortunately, even as leader of ShadowClan, this tom’s ambitious hunger is not yet satisfied. Arrogant Another one of his flaws, this tom is exceedingly prideful and egotistical. Although he does appear to care about others when he revenges the cat from another Clan responsible for harming one of his Clanmates, he’s really only avenging his Clanmate for ShadowClan’s reputation. It also gives him the perfect excuse to take out his aggression on a cat from another Clan. In the end, everything comes down to what will help him. He also has a slightly elevated opinion of himself. It’s not because he is necessarily vain; he just likes to have reasons for why he deserves to be in charge. Many of his opinions and ideas differ exceptionally from most other cats, and he believes that his views are correct and he is “all-knowing” in a sense. Charismatic A very powerful speaker and respectable warrior, Jaggedtooth is a very charming tom. Through his words and his well-placed body movements, he gains the following that he needs to be a successful leader. Because of his ambitious strength, he presents himself as a very loyal and hard-working Clan member; something that the other ShadowClan members respect, and occasionally fear. Able to control others and the things he wants them to do for them, Jaggedtooth can turn on the charm at the blink of an eye. Through his powerful and charismatic speeches, he is able to convince his Clan of anything; if he wanted to convince them that rabbits were mice, it probably wouldn’t take him very long. Ruthless Ruthless. This tom will not stop at anything to get what he wants and to prove his greatness or redeem his honor. Showing no mercy, he will kill any cat without even batting an eye. This brute of a tom does not possess any feelings of empathy or guilt. Everything he does, he believes is the right thing to do, and he can never admit his mistakes. Cold-blood killing, charging into his enemies blindly, murdering for his honor—this tom will stop at nothing to get what he wants—and what he deserves. Cunning Although he recognizes brute strength as more important than intelligence, Jaggedtooth is really intelligent in certain ways. He of course has his charismatic speeches with a wide-ranging vocabulary, but he also possesses a cleverness that makes him appear more intelligent than he is. A cunning tom, Jaggedtooth is able to get what he wants with great ease. Most Clan cats were willing to do anything for any cat that displayed even a wink of charisma and potential—you just needed to know how to use this to your advantage. Aggressive If it wasn’t already obvious from above, this tom is extremely aggressive. The only way he knows how to handle situations is through aggression and violence. The one thing he’s really good at, Jaggedtooth focuses on his fighting and his brute strength in order to solve any problems or get past any obstacles. Not many cats are willing to take on a tom the size of Jaggedtooth, and for good reason. History Kit The son of Shadestar and Goldenflower, Jaggedtooth—known then as Lionkit—was destined for greatness. He had the combined strength and determination of his father, and the charm and cunning of his mother. As a kit, Lionkit was the largest in the nursery, having no brothers or sisters in his litter. He liked to play games with the other kits during which he would pretend to be the leader and the other kits would be either members of his Clan, obeying his every command, or members of another Clan fighting him in battle. Figthing with the brute strength that he possessed, Lionkit would always win, sending the other kits running back to their mothers with many wounds. Many of the queens feared Lionkit for his relentless aggression toward the other kits, but his mother assured them that he just didn’t understand how much strength he had and he didn’t mean the kits any real harm. Apprentice Upon becoming an apprentice, Lionpaw was given Tigerpelt, the ShadowClan deputy at the time as his mentor. Tough and precise, Tigerpelt trained Lionpaw days on end, sometimes spending an entire day out in the territory, learning the layout of the land, how to fight, and how to catch prey for the rest of the Clan. Although he was distracted at first, believing that he didn’t need as much training as Tigerpelt insisted, Lionpaw began to grow more responsible and diligent as he grew older. He continued to attend every one of his mentor’s training sessions, working hard at the lessons she gave him. Occasionally he would grow bored or tired of repeating the same lessons, and would treat these certain lessons more as jokes. Tigerpelt would get very angry at the tom who clearly had the potential to be a great warrior, but would not put in the effort. The one thing that Lionpaw would put in the time and effort for was his fighting lessons. Warrior After moons and moons of training, Lionpaw had finally reached the day that he would officially become a warrior—it was time for his warrior ceremony. His father called upon the warrior ancestors to look down upon his son and guide him along his way, accepting Lionpaw into the Clan as Lionclaw, a full-fledged warrior. Lionclaw was proud; he had finally become a warrior, and he had even received the name LionClaw, a name that highlighted and honored his strength and courage (as well as his size). For the first few moons as a warrior, Lionclaw enjoyed the freedom that he now was allowed and the pride that he felt whenever he walked past any apprentices who would mutter under their breaths about how strong he was. He asked his father many times for an apprentice, but Shadestar could see darkness in his son, and he refused. He assured Lionclaw that he would get his chance to be a mentor, all in good time. At about 25 moons, Lionclaw was faced with his first battle. ShadowClan and ThunderClan were fighting over the many recent border patrol spats, attempting to win their honor and perhaps an expansion on their territory. Overcome with power and ambition, Lionclaw raged through the ThunderClan camp, slaughtering many cats, even a few kits that had wandered unknowingly into the fight. His most memorable battle occurred between him and Redleaf, the ThunderClan deputy. Tigerpelt had warned Lionclaw that the deputy and leader would be too tough for him to handle, but the over-sized tom was too stubborn to listen to the advice. Ambushing Redleaf from behind, Lionclaw engaged in battle with the deputy that lasted for what felt like an eternity. Growing steadily wearier, Lionclaw’s blows were becoming weaker and more ineffective. Redleaf remained strong and used his years of wisdom to outwit Lionclaw, sending a final blow to the large tom’s head and knocking him flying into a nearby tree. LionClaw pushed himself weakly to his paws, tasting nothing but blood and noticing the pool of deep maroon substance that leaked down his leg and formed a pool underneath him. A sharp pain stabbed at him near his jaw, and, upon opening his mouth, Lionclaw could clearly tell that he had lost half of one of his extremely large fangs in the fight. Roaring in rage, Lionclaw barreled through the camp, slashing at more apprentices and kits as his father, himself, drove Redleaf howling into the medicine den. ShadowClan had won the battle. Returning proudly back to ShadowClan camp, his head and tail held high, Lionclaw settled down in front of Smooth Boulder to hear what his father had to say about the battle to the rest of the Clan. Addressing the Clan with pride and excitement, Shadestar conveyed his satisfaction with his Clan and the cats that had fought so bravely. Then, with a heavy heart, he turned to his son and revealed his disappointment in the lack of control and the ruthlessness he had displayed. He proclaimed that he had made a mistake in naming him for something as great as he had, and he announced that from that moment on, Lionclaw would be known as Jaggedtooth, as a reminder of what recklessness and brutality can bring you. Although Jaggedtooth had been distraught by his name change at first, his main concerns had been about his father’s lack of praise, so he quickly learned to grow accustomed to his new name. After all, the name called attention to his broken fang, a reminder to any enemy cat that he would stop at nothing to triumph. Shortly after the battle, his father lost his last life to snakebite, and Tigerpelt became leader, appointing Cedarheart, one of Jaggedtooth’s good friends, as deputy. Only a few moons passed with Tigerstar as leader because she lost many of her lives to a terrible outbreak of Greencough. Cedarheart became Cedarstar, and to no one’s surprise, Jaggedtooth was appointed as his deputy because of the many moons he had spent repairing his image and gaining the support of the Clan. Deputy Once he became deputy, Jaggedtooth began to work even harder at his duties in order to prove that he was a worthy leader. The RiverClan cats were complaining about strange twoleg commotion near their territory, but Jaggedtooth convinced Cedarstar that ShadowClan should not pay their worries any notice, and he didn’t, as well as the other two Clans. Soon after that, the WindClan medicine cat proclaimed that he/she had received a vision from StarClan that was unclear, but it assuredly had to do with the strange twoleg activity in RiverClan. Fearing an alliance between WindClan and RiverClan, Jaggedtooth convinced Cedarstar that they needed to do something and quickly. Following the vision shortly, the rising of the waters began, flooding all of RiverClan and ThunderClan territories. Jaggedtooth was overwhelmed with happiness at this perfectly timed tragedy—that was until he learned that Cedarstar had agreed to let the ThunderClan cats move in with them in ShadowClan camp. Furious that he could let this happen, Jaggedtooth remained in a bad mood for days, hissing or glaring at every ThunderClan cat he passed in his camp. Within the next few weeks, Cedarstar’s body was discovered by Jaggedtooth while on patrol with two other warriors. Immediately Jaggedtooth knew that it had been a ThunderClan cat’s doing, and he and the others in ShadowClan drove the ThunderClan cats from their camp. Leader Now leader of ShadowClan, Jaggedtooth has obtained everything that he could ever hope for; he was in the highest position of power possible, and he had a great following within his Clan. His ambitions are not yet satisfied, so they may drive him to lead the Clan to even greater heights, or to attempt and take over the whole forest. A fresh new leader, Jaggedtooth eagerly awaits his trip to Moonstone so that he can share dreams with StarClan and receive his nine lives and leader name.
