He has to sort through them, count them endlessly, and make sure that he has enough of everything to last them a good while. The Clan's health was determined by how prepared the medicine cat was and Birchshadow wanted nothing more than to make sure they were prepared for just about anything. Even in Greenleaf things can go awry, especially with this intense heat that has flooded the lands, and with difficulty brewing between his Clan and ThunderClan...well, you can never be too prepared. The tom closed his eyes and immediately the wound that had caused a fatal death for their past leader flashed in his mind and he ushered it away. Things had gotten sticky ever since that day and he still wasn't sure how to take anything that happened. He had tried to help ThunderClan, tried to stand up for them against his own leader, a tom that he wasn't all that use to standing up against - a tom that he normally would cower and hide from. And for what? Absolutely nothing. The other Clan would not be insulted with the needless blame of the departed Cedarstar...and really, who would stand for that? What type of feline would honestly hold their grown and argue against the to-be leader who was determined to make them out as the enemy when they had done nothing? Birchshadow would be the type of feline to take the blame on as his own if any feline really wished to blame him with something - he just had no strength of his own...the exact reason he probably was better in the position he was now rather than as a warrior of his Clan. And what if someone in ThunderClan had killed the leader? Well then, that would be that. But, and this was critical, what if they were as innocent as th stars above their heads? All this hate, all this deception, all this murder and blame...he was the type of tom who could never quite understand it all. They all eventually joined then same skies, didn't they? They all worshiped StarClan and resented the Dark Forest for a reason - most felines would one day join their ancestors in a union in the stars. So what was the point of it all? Why couldn't they start acting like one, as much as possible, down here on the physical, living world rather than be dumped into the afterlife unprepared? Again, Cedarstar popped into his mind and he sighed, shaking his head as he looked at the herbs nearby. "Oh StarClan. Why can there never be peace amongst the four Clans?"[/style][/style] |
